The holiday season can be a whirlwind, can’t it? Between the gift-giving, family gatherings, and endless to-do lists, it’s easy to feel a little frazzled once it’s all over. The good news? Now’s the perfect time to hit pause, take a deep breath, and find your calm.
Today, I’m sharing a quick and easy breathwork practice to help you decompress, recharge, and settle back into balance after all the holiday hustle and bustle. Let’s take a few moments for YOU—you deserve it.
Why Post-Holiday Calm Matters
It’s tempting to jump straight into “what’s next” after the holidays, but giving yourself space to unwind is so important. Resting now helps you recharge your energy and reset your focus before diving into year-end reflections or New Year’s plans. Think of it as a way to transition out of holiday mode and into a more peaceful mindset.
A Quick Breathwork Practice to Reset
This simple practice only takes 5 minutes, but it works wonders for calming your mind and soothing your nervous system.

Sit in a comfy chair, on the couch, or even lie down—whatever feels good. Close your eyes and place one hand on your belly. -
Slow, Deep Breathing
- Inhale slowly through your nose for 4 counts, letting your belly expand.
- Hold your breath for 4 counts.
- Exhale gently through your mouth for 6 counts, feeling your body soften.
Repeat this pattern for 5 minutes. If your mind wanders (totally normal!), gently bring your focus back to your breath.

Add a Relaxing Visualization
As you breathe, imagine your stress melting away with each exhale. Picture yourself surrounded by calm—maybe it’s a peaceful beach or a cozy, quiet room. -
Seal It with Gratitude
End the practice by thinking of one thing you’re grateful for, whether it’s a holiday memory, a kind gesture, or just this moment to breathe.
Take It Slow This Week
Remember, the holidays might be over, but that doesn’t mean you have to jump back into full productivity mode right away. Give yourself permission to ease into the week, take breaks when you need them, and savor the quieter moments.
