Reflect and Release: A Breathwork Practice to Let Go of 2024

breathwork & wellness life coaching tips self-care & mindfulness Dec 29, 2024

Hey there, friend! Can you believe 2024 is almost over? Whether this year was filled with milestones, challenges, or a little bit of both, the end of the year is the perfect time to pause, reflect, and release what no longer serves us.

Let’s be real—life gets messy sometimes, and we can carry around a lot of emotional baggage without even realizing it. That’s why today, I’m sharing a super simple breathwork practice to help you let go of the stress, tension, and heaviness from 2024. You deserve to step into 2025 feeling lighter, clearer, and ready for all the amazing possibilities ahead. Let’s dive in!

Why Taking a Moment to Reflect Matters

Before you rush into 2025 goals and resolutions (we all love a good vision board, right?), it’s so important to take a moment to reflect. Think about everything you’ve been through this year—the wins, the lessons, and even the challenges. By reflecting and releasing, you’re giving yourself permission to move forward without all that extra baggage weighing you down.

The Magic of Breathwork

If you’re new to breathwork, here’s the scoop: it’s a powerful tool to calm your mind, release stuck emotions, and reset your energy. Think of it like hitting the “refresh” button on your brain and body. Perfect for this time of year, right?

Your End-of-Year Breathwork Practice

Find a cozy spot where you won’t be disturbed for 10–15 minutes. You don’t need anything fancy—just you, your breath, and a little quiet time.

1. Get Comfy

Sit in a way that feels good—on the floor, a chair, or even your couch. Place one hand on your heart and the other on your belly. Close your eyes, take a deep breath, and let yourself settle in.

2. Set an Intention

Ask yourself: What am I ready to let go of from this year? Maybe it’s stress, fear, or an event that’s been hard to move past. Hold that intention gently in your mind.

3. Breathe Deeply

Try this simple rhythm:

  • Inhale deeply through your nose for 4 counts, letting your belly rise.
  • Hold your breath for 4 counts.
  • Exhale slowly through your mouth for 6 counts, imagining all the tension leaving your body.

Repeat this for 2–3 minutes. (Don’t rush—take it slow and steady.)

4. Reflect on the Good Stuff

As you breathe naturally, take a moment to think about the moments in 2024 that made you smile, taught you something, or made you stronger. Let gratitude fill your heart.

5. Let It Go with a Sigh

Take a deep breath in, and exhale with a big, audible sigh. (Seriously, don’t hold back—it feels SO good!) Do this a few more times, imagining all the negativity melting away.

6. Seal It with an Affirmation

When you’re ready, finish with this affirmation:
“I release what no longer serves me. I welcome 2025 with peace and joy.”

Why This Practice Works

This little ritual helps clear the emotional clutter and gives you a sense of closure for the year. Think of it as decluttering your heart and mind so you can make room for the amazing things coming your way in 2025.

Let’s Make This a Tradition

Ending the year with reflection and breathwork is like giving yourself a mini-reset button. Once you’ve tried it, you might want to make it a yearly tradition. It’s a small, simple act of self-care that can have a big impact.

So, grab a cup of tea, light a candle, and take a few deep breaths as you say goodbye to 2024. You’ve made it through another year, and that’s something to celebrate.

Here’s to stepping into 2025 with clarity, confidence, and a whole lot of peace. You’ve got this! 🌟

Friendly Reminder: If you found this helpful, share it with a friend who could use a little end-of-year magic. Let’s breathe, reflect, and release together!
